Side Effects Game is a 2–8 player card game in which players attempt to eliminate all their Disorder cards by taking matching medications — but every drug may bring unwanted side effects.
The goal of Side Effects Game
Be the first player to clear every Disorder card from your hand by playing the correct medication cards.
Card Types
- Disorders: Conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, and similar ailments.
- Medications: Played to treat Disorders, but they can trigger Side Effects.
- Side Effects: New problems that appear after taking a medication and must be resolved.
- Cure Cards: Special cards that remove Side Effects or alter your cards.
- Action Cards: Cards that let you hinder opponents, defend yourself, or change the course of the game.
Side Effects Gameplay
- Each player begins with four Disorder cards.
- On your turn, draw one card from the deck.
- If you have a Medication that matches a Disorder, you may play it to remove that Disorder.
- When you play a medication, announce any Side Effects it causes.
- Resolve the resulting Side Effects immediately or use a special card to remove them.
- The first player to have no Disorders left wins the game.
Note
- Some medications can cure more than one Disorder — plan combinations wisely.
- Playing multiple medications at once can create more Side Effects to handle.
- Use Action Cards to disrupt rivals, forcing them to gain extra Disorders or Side Effects.
